Purchasing a used car is often more complicated than buying a new car. There are so many things that need to be verified for a used car. So how can you be more diligent during this process?
Here is our used car buying guide Bangalore to due diligence and more conscious decision making.
Cross Check the Valuation
Sellers can often ask for an outrageous amount as selling price and would even be ready to justify it. You can use the free online calculators to check the real valuation of the car. Share the car’s details like its make and model, kilometres clocked, etc and you will get fair bit of idea of valuation.
Get Your Own Inspection Done
If you approach a dealer of used cars, then he would tell you that each car he is selling is certified and properly inspected. He would also show you the inspection report. Ask him who did the certification and where. Closely look at the inspection report. If possible get your own inspection done to find out no damages are being hidden.
Verify the Real Ownership
You don’t want to end up being on the other end of a deal that involved a stolen car or a leased out car. So what you can ideally do here is to check the serial number on the vehicle registration car and match it with the number on the car. This will help you determine the real ownership.
Check the Paperwork
Ask the owner to show you the documents of the car. You should ask ideally for the RC book and the insurance policy. Try to find out if the car has ever been involved in an accident and if there have been any insurance claims made.
